Pink clay Japanese Maple leaves

$ 90.00

New print for 2018 – this design is taken from a ‘found object’, which makes it a favourite of the Captain, because who doesn’t love a good story..

Katagami paper is Japanese stencil paper made from Mulberry leaves, and was one of the first silk screens. It was used between 100-150 years ago until the paper was not made anymore. The paper with this Maple leaf design was purchased at a flea market in Collingwood. It was originally found in an abandoned kimono printing factory in Kyoto, Japan.

Please note the leaves are printed in a soft pink, and appear a bit more pink than in the photo !

Fabric content 90% cotton 10% spandex.

100% Made in Melbourne.
